Odaily News North Wales Police are investigating a major crypto assets theft. A fraudster impersonated a senior British police officer and successfully stole Bitcoin worth £2.1 million (approximately $2.8 million). The police stated that this was a "highly targeted and sophisticated scam," and the fraudster may have obtained the victim's information through a data breach. The fraudster claimed to have arrested a suspect in possession of the victim's identification and created panic and urgency to induce the victim to log in to a cold wallet through the link provided. Believing they were following police instructions, the victim entered their mnemonic phrase on a carefully forged website, resulting in the theft of funds. (Cointelegraph)
