Ripple is set to attend the U.S. Senate web3 summit.

The U.S. Senate Banking Committee will hold an important hearing titled "From Wall Street to Web3: Building Tomorrow’s Digital Asset Markets" on Wednesday (local time July 10, 2025). Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse will attend as a guest.

This not only means that the influence of the XRP project is expanding, but it also makes XRP a focal point of market attention.

XRP is a digital asset developed by Ripple, with its underlying technology being the XRP Ledger (abbreviated as XRPL). Since its launch, the XRPL has been regarded as an efficient, green, and decentralized ledger solution, widely used in various scenarios such as payments, tokenization, and DeFi.

##What is XRP Ledger? The XRP Ledger is an open-source, permissionless distributed ledger designed for speed, low cost, and scalability. Compared to other mainstream blockchains, the XRPL has the following significant advantages:

  • The transaction fees are extremely low, averaging only about $0.0002.
  • The transaction confirmation time is fast, requiring only 3-5 seconds.
  • Can process about 1500 transactions per second
  • Carbon neutrality, extremely low energy consumption, is an environmentally friendly blockchain.
  • Native built-in decentralized exchange (DEX) and token issuance functions

These features make the XRP Ledger an ideal vehicle for the integration of traditional finance and crypto technology, particularly with extensive applications in cross-border payments, stablecoin issuance, and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).

Practical Application Scenarios of XRPL

Currently, the XRP Ledger mainly focuses on the following five directions:

  • Payment System: Supports fast, low-cost global transfers
  • Asset tokenization: including the on-chain representation of physical assets such as real estate, stocks, and artworks.
  • Decentralized Finance (DeFi): including lending, liquidity mining, etc.
  • Stablecoin issuance: Multiple institutions are exploring stablecoin deployment on XRPL.
  • Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC): Collaborating with multiple countries for pilot projects

In addition, XRPL is extremely developer-friendly, supporting mainstream languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and providing comprehensive documentation and tutorials to help build applications, manage accounts, and execute complex transaction logic.

##Conclusion From initially promoting the slogan "cross-border payments are faster and cheaper than SWIFT," to now where XRPL is used as the underlying infrastructure for stablecoins, DeFi, and CBDCs, the ecosystem of XRP is gradually expanding. Although XRP still faces certain regulatory and market competition challenges, it possesses unique advantages in performance, green attributes, and a network of accumulated partnerships over the years.

As the U.S. legislative body increases its focus on cryptocurrencies and Web3, the "traditional compliance + blockchain efficiency" model represented by Ripple is expected to become an important part of the future digital asset market. Meanwhile, XRP may be standing at the critical point of moving from the periphery to the core.
